The England Legends are delighted to announce that they have exceeded the huge sum of One Million Pounds in money raised for charity since their first match against an Ireland Legends team, in memory of Stuart Mangan, nine years ago.

The Stuart Mangan Trophy has subsequently been contested by England & Ireland Legends teams, alternating between Dublin and Twickenham each year. The England Legends have also played against Australia, France and Wales Legends teams all culminating to hit the grand total of over £1 million.

The England Legends and the impressive funds raised would not be possible at all without the amazing support of various, loyal sponsors and parties.

Validus RE have underwritten the fixtures with the Ireland Legends for nine years ensuring no financial risk to our nominated charities and ensuring the players, who give their time for free, are accommodated and if travelling – transported to and from the matches.

Hammersmith & Fulham, Stuart Mangan’s former club, have given significant, continued support and amazing fund raising efforts over the nine years.

The England Legends have been fortunate over the past six years to have benefited from consistent support from Gilbert, Greene King, Salesforce & Canterbury – all helping to achieve profits made for the specific charities.

Jason Leonard who has always headed up the England Legends has had amazing support from various team captains including Martin Corry and Lewis Moody.

Jason Leonard OBE commented “I think it’s a phenomenal achievement to raise this much money for various charities over 9 years. All the players have given their time for free. Andy Lee and Harvey Thorneycroft, who organise and run the England Legends fixtures, always make sure the players are looked after and have great fun. I’m really proud of what we have achieved”

The England Legends matches are organised by Sportingclass and Harvey Thorneycroft LTD
